Day 01 - Arrival in kathmandu

Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport transfer to your hotel. Short briefing will follow concerning the necessary formalities and your trekking itinerary. Depending upon your arrival time you may spend free time visiting nearby sanctuaries or resting.

Day 02 - At leisure in Kathmandu

Half day sightseeing around Kathmandu where your guide will escort you on a tour of Buddhist and Hindu temples and shrines reflecting ancient local traditions. There is time to explore the city’s many places of interest on your own or take a rest while trekking permits are finalized. In the evening sample a delicious traditional Nepali dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03 - Kathmandu-Lukla-Phakding

.Early morning we will take the airplane to Lukla, which will take us about 45 minutes of flight time. At Lukla we  will head north from the to Chablung (2,700m). Here we will cross the Tharo Kosi river. From here, we can see the peak of Kusum Kangru (6,367m).  Beyond the Tharo Kosi the trail climbs a bit towards Ghat (2590m), we will climb to Phakding where we will stay overnight (3 hrs).

Day 04 - Phakding to Namche Bazaar

From Phakding we follow the Dudh Kosi river, staying on the west bank of the river. We climb over a rocky ridge towards Benkar (2,710m).   We cross the Kyashar Khola river and climb out of the valley to Monjo (2,840m). The trek enters the Sagarmatha National Park,  and then the trail makes a descent and crosses the Dudh Kosi river  towards Jorsale (2,830m). After crossing this river a few times while climbing our way up, we will reach Namche Bazaar (3,420m) (6 hrs).

Day 05 - Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar

Today we will take a hike through the villages of Khunde and Khumjung. We start with a steep  climb to the Shyangboche airstrip (3,790m), from where we will  ascend towards Khunde passing numerous (stone Buddhist monuments). From Khunde we follow the trail  to Khumjung, the largest village in Khumbu, at the foot of the sacred peak Khumbila. After enjoying lunch here we will follow a steep  trail descending to Chhorkung (3,540m). From here it is a quick descent back to Namche Bazaar (5 hrs).

Day 06 - Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

Our route of today to Tengboche is made of small ups and downs to  Kenjoma. The views of Everest and Ama Dablam are excellent from this part of the trek. We pass the small town of Sanasa and then to Phunki Thanga (3,250m). From here the trail follows the side of a hill on which the monestary of Tengboche sits at 3,870m. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablan, Kantega and Thamserku provide an inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. (5 hrs).

Day 07 - Tengboche to Pheriche

From Tengboche we descend through forests  to the village of Devuche. After crossing the Imja Khola river the route climbs up to Pangboche (3,860m). This is the highest year-round settlement in the valley, and the Pangboche gompa is the oldest in Khumbu. Beyond Pangboche the route enters alpine meadows,  mostly of scrub juniper and tundra. We will cross the Khumbu Khola river and arrive in Pheriche, which is a labyrinth of walls and pastures (4:30 hrs).

Day 08 - Acclimatization day in Pheriche

The most important thing to acclimatisation to high altitudes is a slow ascent. Therefore it is imperative that we spend an additional night at Pheriche to aid the acclimatisation process. A good way to spend the day is to hike to the small summer settlement of Chhukung at 4730m. From here we have tremendous views of Island Peak (6189m), the south face of Lothse and the south eastern face of Ama Dablam. After enjoying the views here we return back to Pheriche (4 hrs).

Day 09 - Pheriche to Duglha

The trail of today ascents the broad, gently sloping valley from Pheriche to Phalang Karpo at 4320m. In many places the trail crosses small streams on boulders. Beyond Phalang Karpo the trail climbs steeply onto the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, then joins the trail from Dingboche and contours down to a stream, crossing it on a bridge just before Duglha (3 hrs).
 

Day 10 - Duglha to Lobuche

From Dughla the trail goes directly up the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier for about an hour to the memorial area known as Chukpilhara. From here the trail drops a bit and follows the western side of the valley to Lobuche, a summer settlement at 4930m that has become a major trekking stop. The sunset on Nuptse, seen from here, is a memorable sight.

Day 11 - Lobuche to Gorak Shep

Today’s trail follows the western side of the Khumbu valley and ascents through meadows. The ascent becomes steeper and after rounding a bend , the peak of Pumori comes into view. On the lower slopes of this mountain a ridge terminates in a small peak, known as Kala Pattar (5,545m). The trail then makes a short descent onto the flat expanse of Gorak Shep. From here we will continue to Everest base camp, which is on return walk from Gorak Shep. We will return to this settlement after our visit to the base camp (6 hrs).

Day 12 - Gorak Shep to Lobuche

After an early morning rise we will start our day by climbing the Kala Pattar (5545m). This is a steep ascent up the grassy slopes west of Gorak Shep. From Kala Pattar the entire Everest south face is visible as well as Lho La (the pass between Nepal and Tibet, also named the Western Cwm), Changtse (the northern peak of Everest) and most of the West-Ridge route. We return to Gorak Shep and continue to descent to Lobuche (6 hrs).

Day 13 - Lobuche to Dingboche

To go to Dingboche we retrace our steps back to Dughla, and then go straight up the hill from the bridge to reach an upper trail, staying high above the valley floor. The views from here are great. You can easily recognise Island Peak and the top of Makalu is visible in the distance over the pass to the right of Island Peak. After passing a chorten we will descent to Dingboche, where we will stay the night (4 hrs).

Day 14 - Dingboche to Tengboche

The route from Dingboche desents the Imja valley, then crosses the Khumbu Khola on a wooden bridge and climbs to rejoin the upward trail at some stone huts. Following the trail downhill from here we will arrive at Tengboche (3 hrs).
 

Day 15 - Tengboche to Namche Bazaar

Today we retrace our trail what we followed on day 04 to reach Namche Bazaar (5 hrs).
 

Day 16 - Namche Bazaar to Lukla

It is a long walk from Namche Bazaar to Lukla, but we are probably all in good shape by now. From Namche, we will descent steeply back to the Dudh Kosi river and continue our way past the national park checkpoint at Monjo. The trail then continues back towards Lukla, where we will reconfirm our flight tickets for the next day and spend the night (7 hrs).

Day 17 - Lukla to Kathmandu

The 35 minutes flight from Lukla will bring us back to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at hotel.
 

Day 18 - Kathmandu

Departure from Kathmandu.

Today we return halfway back to Namche Bazaar before starting our hike up to the largest Khumbu settlement of the valley, Khumjung village. From Khumjung village a great view from Mt. Everest can be seen (4-5 hrs).

Day 08 - Khumjung to Phakding

Today we descent first to Namche Bazaar and then continue our way back down the valley and descent steeply back to the Dudh Kosi river and continue our way past the national park checkpoint at Monjo. From Monjo we will go through forests of magnolia, giant firs and rhododendrons to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project. We cross the Dudh Kosi river to its west-bank and continue our way down to Phakding (5 hrs).

Day 09 - Phakding to Lukla

Today we retrace our route from day 01 back to the transit village of Lukla, where we have to reconfirm our flight tickets for the next day. Overnight in Lukla (3 hrs).

Day 10 - Lukla to Kathmandu

The 35 minutes flight from Lukla will bring us back to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at hotel.
 

Day 11 - Kathmandu

Departure from Kathmandu.

Day 05 - Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar I

The Himalayan Rescue Association has determined that you must acclimatize before we begin our trek to Gokyo. It is easy to get to high too fast and succumb to altitude sickness. Today we will do the trek to Thami and back again. Thami lies at an elevation of 3,750m, near the foot of a valley west of Namche Bazaar. The route passes the settlements of Phurte (3,390m), Thamo (3,440m) and Somde (3,580m) before arriving in the Sherpa village of Thami (3,750m). After our lunch we will return to Namche Bazaar for the night (6 hrs).

Day 06 - Namche Bazaar to Phortse Tenga

The trek of today climbs the hill to Khumjung and descends to the valley of Dudh Koshi. The route to Goyko turns north, climbing above the more frequented route to Tengboche and Everest base camp. It climbs gently to a ridge top at 3,973m. From here we descent in steep switchbacks down a sandy slope to the Dudh Kosi river. After crossing this river on a suspension bridge we arrive in Phortse Thanga (3 hrs).

Day 07 - Phortse Tenga to Dole

Due to acclimatization, the time spent trekking today is short. The trail first climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forests. This part of the trek is especially beautiful in spring when the rhododendrons are blooming. We pass a herders’ hut at Tongba (3,950m) and then climb gently to Dole. From here the views of Khumbila and Tawachee are tremendous throughout the day, and it is possible to climb a ridge behind Dole for an even broader view up and down the valley (2 hrs).

Day 08 - Dole to Machhermo

The trail starts today by climbing steeply through scrub junipers to a single lodge at Lhabarma (4330m). We pass the small settlement of Luza (4340m) and continue to climb along the side of the valley, high above the river to Machhermo. It was here that a yeti supposedly killed three yaks and attacked a Sherpa woman. This is the most credible yeti incident ever reported, so be watchful as we visit this region (2 hrs).

Day 09 - Machhermo to Gokyo Lakes

Beyond Machhermo the trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view of Kantega and Cho Oyu. Beyond the ridge the valley widens as the trail reaches the  village of Pangka (4,390m). After  Pangka the trail drops briefly, then climbs to a large cave known as Nilibuk. After Nilibuk we climb up until we cross a wooden bridge to the first small lake, Longponga, at 4,650m. The trail now follows the valley past a second lake, known as Taujun, at 4,710m and finally up to Gokyo, which is on the shores of a large lake known as Dudh Pokhari (4 hrs)

Day 10 - Gokyo - Gokyo Ri - Gokyo

The views around Gokyo are tremendous. For the best views we will climb Gokyo Ri (5,357m) today. From here we will have a panoramic view of Cho Oyu, Gyanchung Kang, Everest, Lothse, Makalu, Cholatse and Tawachee. After we enjoy the view we will return to Gokyo village for the night (4 hrs).

Day 11 - Gokyo - Dragnang

Fit and acclimatized, we leave Gokyo to cross the Ngozumpa Glacier. We descend to the second lake and drop down onto the glacier. The route across the glacier is marked by cairns and is generally quite well defined. We climb off the glacier by a small dwelling known as Dragnag. Where we spend the night before our victory over Cho - La pass. Which is one of the hardest pass of the entire route.

Day 12 - Dragnag - Chola Pass - Dzonglha

Today is a long trek starting before sunrise at 4/5 am to reach the pass by 9-10 am otherwise weather conditions will greatly affect our journey. We cross over at an altitude of 5300 meters we could be exposed to strong winds if crossing too late. We start to climb steeply that is regularly used and easy to follow. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. As you reach the top, you are rewarded by the magnificent views, then we descend to the Dzongla at noon. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 13 -Dzonglha to Lobuche

The way to Lobuche contours the grassy slopes above a lake, the Tshola Tsho, to join up with the main Everest trail from Pheriche and Thyangboche. The trail flattens out and follows the valley on the west side of the Khumbu  Glacier towards Lobuche. Which is easy walk from Dzonglha. Where you may see the best views around of Amadablam, Cholatse. When we reach at Lobuche you can take well deserved rest or we can visit the local places to get more information about the place.

Day 14 - Lobuche to Gorak Shep

The trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep follows along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Just before arriving in Gorak Shep, we will climb adjacent terminal moraines of the Changri Glacier which joins the Khumbu and crosses a stream of glacier melt. After lunch we will settle in at a tea house in Gorak Shep.

Day 15 - Gorak Shep - EBC - Gorakshep

Today’s trail follows the western side of the Khumbu valley and ascents through meadows. The ascent becomes steeper and after rounding a bend , the peak of Pumori comes into view. You can easily recognise Island Peak and the top of Makalu is visible in the distance over the pass to the right of Island Peak. After passing a chorten we will descent to Dingboche, where we will stay the night (4 hrs).

Day 18 - Tengboche to Khumjung

This is a short walk back to Khumjung and we can take the time to relax and enjoy the views across from Ama Dablam and the Everest region. From Tengboche the trail drops steeply to the river at Phortse Tenga, and then rises again to traverse high above the river on the winding trail that leads to Mong la . From here we have an easy walk back to   Khumjung where we can tell the newly arrived trekkers the story how  easy it was after a cool beer!

Day 19 - Khumjung to Jorsale

This is another short day to get back to Jorsale  from Khumjung. We start our day early after  having breakfast around 8:00 am and then we just pass through Namche Bazaar and heading  directly towards Jorsale. This journey will take approximately four to five hours. We will cross Dudh Koshi river several times during the day. We will stay overnight at Jorsale and continue our journey back to Lukla the following day.

Day 20 - Jorsale to Lukla

The final day of our trek, seems to be full of relief for some and sadness for others as we left  our steps along the trail above the Dudh Koshi. We start descending steeply to get out of Namche and shortly before we cross the suspension bridge below Namche, we get a last chance to see Everest before it is out of sight until the next time. We have lunch at Phakding and then continue down the trail, before turning off from the main Jiri route and rising up towards Lukla to arrive there by mid-afternoon.

Day 21 - Lukla to Kathmandu

We return to the hustle and   bustle of Kathmandu with a 45    minute flight back from Lukla airport. Here in Kathmandu you will be greeted and transferred back to your hotel. Arrival times back into Kathmandu vary,   however it is usual to arrive back at your hotel by mid-afternoon. After returning, you may have the day off for a well deserved and earned rest or if you are still feeling strong, you may hang around the city.

Day 22 - Kathmandu

After a successful journey, we begin our day with a well deserved breakfast for your last day in Nepal. Depending on your flight schedule, will take you straight to the airport so you may begin your trip back home or if time permits, you may do some more shopping.
